What do
we believe

We believe that Jesus has called us to follow him and continue his work in a number of specific ways.

Our Vision

We believe that God has called us to be a church that raises the next generation. We pursue this through our communities, worshipping on a Sunday and through serving on teams. We follow the Evangelical Alliance Statement of Faith.

As a church we want to live FREE: Free to live
for God and others, not for ourselves

Following Jesus

We want to grow as disciples of Jesus: living His way, being transformed into His likeness and leading others to Him through prayer, the Bible, and the Holy Spirit’s power in us. Our goal is that in all things Christ may have the supremacy (Colossians 1:18).

Extended Family

We believe that churches are to live out ‘extended family’ in a way that is often lost in today’s society. We want to be a multi-generational, diverse, inclusive community, united in our shared identity as God’s children. And, as a family, we want to be full of grace and truth, encouraging one another in our walk with God.

Reaching Out

We believe we are called to go: to share the amazing news of what God has done for us with the world. We do this by equipping and encouraging one another to reach out to those around us.

Everything in Love

We want everything we do to be powered by and in the name of love. We seek to know more and more of God’s love for us, enabling us to show more love to one another and to follow Jesus, reach out and be an extended family.

Our other values

  • God’s Word and God’s Spirit work together in our lives to transform us into the likeness of Christ, and both need to be central to our lives as individuals and as a church.

We see the Bible as the highest authority in our lives. As God’s Word to us, the Bible is necessary and relevant to everything we do, and opening it together is an important part of all our meetings. Every Sunday David, Tim or an invited speaker teaches us from the Bible – you can visit our YouTube channel or our talks archive to download or listen to previous talks.

We also want to be a church filled with the Holy Spirit, because it is only by His power in us that we are able to draw close to God and to serve one another. The Holy Spirit changes us to make us more like Jesus, and through His gifts enables us to build each other up as well as carry out Jesus’ mission of taking the Gospel ‘to the ends of the earth’ (Acts 1:8).

  • We want to show each other the grace that has been shown to us in Jesus, making allowances for our faults and seeking to encourage each other. But this doesn’t mean glossing over the reality of a situation or pretending we’re all perfect. The Bible teaches that true friends speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:14-16): we need both grace and truth.

  • Prayer is at the centre of everything we do. As a church we are continually seeking to grow in this area, crying out to God both corporately and as individuals. Come and join us at our prayer nights on the first Sunday of the month, 7:30-8:30pm.

We want to be people who put our words into action, and are willing to step out in faith to see change. Browse our website for information about our communities, events and opportunities to serve one another, and the city of Brighton and Hove.

  • One of our values as a church is generous giving. We believe that God loves to bless us when we give, and that through it we get to be part of His work on earth.

See our giving page for more information on how to give and where the money goes.

  • As a church we are committed to mission not only locally but in the world: at least 25% of the church’s income goes to work beyond ourselves, and we send out both individuals and teams to serve the nations. Our three areas of priority are: the poorest of the poor, places where there is no church, the persecuted church and longstanding partnerships.

See our world mission page for more information about what’s going on and how you could get involved.
